We started Deliciously Guilt Free from our kitchen table. My wife had gestational diabetes and I started baking cakes to help her manage her blood sugar levels. Today, many of our customers often share their joy at being able to manage their sugar levels while enjoying our cakes too.
Yes, absolutely! These are made for exactly that! We use clean polyol sweeteners which have little to no impact on blood sugar levels.
Great question, we get asked this often.
We use a sweetener called a polyol that doesn't spike your blood sugar level. It's technically a carb, a bit like fibre is, however unlike fibre we have to include it legally in the total carbs quantity.
All you need do is minus the polyol number from the total carbs and you will be surprised by how low carb these cakes are.
Two main reasons, really:
1) The primary ingredients used in these are much more expensive than cheap inflammatory seed oils, wheat flour and oodles of sugar. We use - ground almonds for flour, sweeteners and grass fed butter.
2) The secondary ingredients are handmade too. We make our own chocolate, sugar free sauces (we can't call them jams as they don't have enough sugar) and drizzles - all because we have to maintain the low sugar. Unlike most bakeries that buy in jams and toppings - everything in our cakes is made from scratch.
Yes, absolutely! That is a great idea as these fresh cakes have zero preservatives and last around 7 days in the fridge.
By freezing these cakes and brownies you are able to make them last for months meaning you can defrost them when needed and they will be as fresh as when they first arrived through your letterbox.
