So did I tame a Dragon? Or was I slayed?
The pressure was on. I knew the producers would judge EVERYTHING by these chocolate bars.
And, as usual, I left it to the last minute. (Why do I do this to myself?)
I picked the best bars from my latest batch and packed them extra safely.
These had to arrive in the best condition.
Then came the wait.
A week later: second audition.
This time, the full panel of producers—grilling me like the Dragons themselves.
Tough questions. Deep dives into my numbers. No room for fairy stories.
I gave my pitch.
And… they LOVED it. Especially the creamy milk chocolate.
The executive producer points at a bar:
“Yes, this is it. We want this on the show. How soon can you get to making larger batches?
Cue my embarrassment:
“Well… our machine’s tiny. We’re hand-grinding in small batches, tempering is slow, and packaging is nowhere near ready.”
They didn’t care.
“We like DGF. We like you, Dan. You’ve got a spot on the show”
Was this real?
National TV! The Dragons??
Me, the ex-teacher helping my wife manage her pregnancy diabetes, suddenly pitching to the whole UK?
But I hesitated...
What the Dragons got to try...
View all...not because I don’t want the spotlight.
Not because I don’t want a Dragon’s investment.
The chocolate is good BUT I can’t make enough of it just yet the packaging still isn’t ready.
So I did the unthinkable: I asked to postpone.
I’m holding out for the right time. For the moment when the chocolate, the packaging, and the brand are ready to blow the Dragons away.
That’s where I am now.
Investing in machines. Training staff. Perfecting the packaging.
All so I can bring you—and every DGF fan—the best sugar-free chocolate the world’s ever seen.
This isn’t the end. It’s just the end of chapter one.
And here’s the thing: I see this as our journey.
Your support got me here. And I want you with me for what’s next.
